I've tutored more than 50 students over four years of medical school, across every ability level. The same pattern kept showing up, no matter who I was working with.
A student would learn something. I'd test them at the end of the session and they'd get it, properly get it, able to apply it to exam-style questions with real confidence. I'd tell their parents they'd understood the content and demonstrated they could use it. Then the following week I'd retest the same thing, and they wouldn't know it to anywhere near the same standard.
I've taught factorising quadratics to the same student more than once, even though they could independently answer questions on it the week before. It wasn't that they weren't clever, or that I hadn't explained it well enough in the moment. It was that understanding in a session and retaining it two weeks later are two completely different things, and almost nobody teaches the second one.
"Did they get it today?" was the wrong question. The real question was always whether it would still be there next month.
That's the problem Elevate Tutor exists to solve. Not just teaching content well in the moment, but building the habits, the flashcards, and the spaced repetition that make sure it actually sticks.
I studied medicine at the University of Sheffield and graduated in 2026. Teaching found me early and never really let go. Alongside my own studies, I organised group revision support for younger medical students and built the mock exams they used to prepare, because I genuinely enjoyed doing it, not because anyone asked me to.
Across four years I tutored more than 50 students, from those who needed to go from struggling to a pass, to those chasing the top grade, to medicine applicants preparing for the UCAT and interviews. Every single one needed a different approach. Nobody learns the same way, and pretending otherwise is how students end up sitting through hours of tutoring that doesn't actually move the needle.
Teaching is something I love, and it's something I want to build my life around. Elevate Tutor is that, built properly, from the ground up, by someone who's actually done the tutoring rather than just managing people who do.
Elevate Tutor isn't a marketplace matching you with a stranger. It's built directly from what I saw wasn't working, in myself as a student and in every student I've taught since.
The flashcard library exists because I got tired of watching students relearn the same topic three times. The tutoring itself is built around active recall and spaced repetition from day one, not as an afterthought. And because this is a new business, I'm personally involved in every account, not managing a roster of tutors I've never met.
If you want to know more, or you're thinking about whether Elevate Tutor is right for your child or for you, I'm always happy to talk it through directly.
I read and respond to every enquiry personally. No call centre, no account managers, just a direct conversation about what your child or you actually need.
