No — what matters most is strong subject knowledge and the ability to explain things clearly. Many of our best tutors are current university students, recent graduates, and professionals with strong academic backgrounds. Qualified teachers are very welcome too.
You'll be paid per session at an agreed rate, with payments processed regularly. We discuss exact rates at interview based on your subject, level, and experience. Tutors are engaged on a self-employed basis, which means you're responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
It depends on what you're available for. If you're online-only, we'll match you with students from anywhere in the UK. For in-person, we match within reasonable travel distance from your location across the West Midlands.
Honestly, it varies. Our most in-demand tutors (Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Medicine admissions) often get matched within a couple of weeks. Less common subjects can take longer. We're upfront about this at interview.
Absolutely — most of our tutors do exactly this. You set your own availability, and we work around it. There's no minimum hours commitment.
Every tutor must hold a current Enhanced DBS check before being matched with students. If you don't have one, we'll guide you through obtaining one through an umbrella body — it costs around £50–60 and takes 1–4 weeks.
